DACRIOSE: Generic sodium/potassium extraocular irrigating ophthalmic drops.
DALLERGY: Antihistamine, decongestant, cholinergic.
DALMANE: Medication typically used for insomnia ... 15 milligrams and 30 milligrams ... taken just prior to bedtime.
DANAZOL: A hormone which decreases the production of estrogen ... often used to combat endometriosis.
DANOCRINE: Male hormone for endometriosis, fibrocystic breast disease and hereditary angioedema.
DANTRIUM: Muscle relaxant ... 20 milligram, 25 milligram, 50 milligram, 100 milligram.
DARVOCET-N 100: Also called ... "propoxyphene hydrochloride". For mild to moderate pain.
DARVON: Also called ... "propoxyphene". Pain medication.
DAYPRO: 600-mg pain reliever that also reduces inflammation. Use to treat headaches, arthritis, cramps from menstruation, dental pain, etc. Also reduces fever.
DDAP: A drug, which increases the amount of von Willebrand's factor in the blood.
DDAVP: Nasal spray, which uses a compound similar to vasopressin, stops urine overproduction and the thirst that result from it (diabetes insipidus).
DEBROX: Ear wax softener.
DECADRON: Steroid responsive disorders.
DECLOMYCIN: An antibiotic in the Tetracycline family, which shuts down ADH production.
DECONAMINE: Antihistamine.
DECONSAL PEDIATRIC: Decongestant, expectorant.
DELTASONE: Glucocorticoid (prednisone). For steroid responsive disorders.
DEMADEX: Edema; hypertension.
DEMEROL: Moderate to severe pain. It is a narcotic and most effective in the treatment of pain which is brief in nature (like that experienced after surgery). Demerol's chemical name is ... "meperidine"
DENAVIR: Typically used for cold sores on the lips and face (recurrent herpes labialis).
DEPAKOTE: Absence seizures. Often successful in preventing migraine headaches. Can cause pancreatitis, hyperglycemia, stomach upset, depression, and loss of hair.
DEPO-MEDROL: Glucocorticoid ... corticosteroid.
DEPO-PROVERA: Trademark for a preparation of medroxyprogesterone acetate.
DEPO-TESTOSTERONE: Androgen replacement for breast cancer/delayed puberty ... IM injection ... 100 mg/ml, 200 mg/ml.
DERMASIL: An over the counter bath emollient.
DES: Diethylstilbestrol ... an estrogen hormone. A drug used in the 1960's as a treatment for pregnant women who were threatening miscarriage or premature delivery. The hormone fell out of favor when it was discovered that some daughters of mothers who had taken it developed a rare type of vaginal cancer called "clear cell adenocarcinoma". Sons have been known to have a testicle that remains in the abdomen and does not drop into it's normal position in the scrotum. Others have developed testicular cysts, infertility. DESOGEN: Oral contraceptive.
DESFERAL MESYLATE: A powder used to treat and overload of iron.
DESYREL: Depression with or without anxiety.
DETROL: Tolterodine tartrate tablets. For the symptoms of an overactive bladder i.e., frequent and sudden urges to urinate
DEXAMETHASONE: Topical and/or ophthalmic corticosteroid.
DEXTROMETHORPHAN HBR: Antitussive ... 15 mg/5 ml, 5 mg, and 7.5 mg/5 ml.
DEXTROSE: Fluid and nutrient replenisher.
DEXTROSTAT: Amphetamine tablets.
DIABETA: Properly spelled DiaBeta. Used to treat non-insulin dependent diabetes. It is used in conjunction with a proper diet and exercise to assist in decreasing levels of sugar in the blood. Also called Glucotrol.
DIABINESE: Adjunct to diet in type II diabetes mellitus.
DIACOL: Tablets for colonoscopy preparation.
DIAMOX: Also called ... "etazolamide". Anticonvulsant used to treat some seizure disorders. Weak diuretic. Also, treats ... glaucoma (because it reduces eye pressure) ... altitude sickness ... edema / fluid buildup in tissues (increases urination).
DIAPAMIDE: Combats hypertension; Diuretic.
DIASTAT: For acute seizures ... it is designed as a viscous solution for rectal administration.
DIAZEPAM: Anxiety. Muscle relaxant.
DIBATROL: Anti-diabetic agent ... 100 mg and 250 mg tablets.
DICLOFENAC: Anti-inflammatory, antiarthritic, analgesic.
DICLOXACILLIN: Bacterial antibiotic ... susceptible penicillinase-producing staphylococcal infections.
DICYCLOMINE: This medication slows activity of the stomach and intestinal tract. It is used in the treatment of a variety of stomach and intestinal tract disorders such as peptic ulcers, diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome, diverticulitis, colitis, or pancreatitis.

DIFFERIN: Acne medication.
DIFLUCAN: Infusion ... systemic anti-fungal. For vaginal yeast infections and other infections due to Candida.
DIFLUNISAL: For osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Active ingredient in Dolobid.
DIGITALIS: A respected heart medication that gives a failed heart a power boost. Digoxin (Lanoxin) is the most commonly prescribed digitalis drug.
DIGOXIN: A drug that stimulates the heart; used for heart failure and certain forms of irregular heartbeats. Lanoxin is the brand name. Bran fiber may decrease the drug's effectiveness. Should not take St. John's wort with this medication because it can lead to heart failure.
DILACOR XR: Antihypertensive, antifungal, antianginal, and calcium channel blocker ... 120 mg, 180 mg, 240 mg.
DILANTIN: A seizure-control medicine ... it is a tonic-clonic, psychomotor and neurosurgically induced seizures medicine. Neurologists' often taper patients off the drug when seizures have not occurred for three years combined with normal brain wave tests. Can foster breast cancer. Dilantin has been known to impede the activity of Vitamin D, which helps calcium to enter into the bones. This medication can cause a person to have an unsteady gait, liver damage, mental confusion and/or tremors.
DILAUDID: Laxative. Narcotic analgesic.
DILTIAZEM: Coronary vasodilator; Anti-anginal. This heart medication sometimes lowers lung blood pressure.
DIMEPHEPTANOL: INN, BAN. Calcium channel blocker.
DIMERCAPROL: Currently being researched.
DIMETABS: For motion sickness, vertigo, and nausea.
DIMETANE: For cough and congestion.
DIMETAPP ALLERGY: Antihistamine.
DIMETAPP COLD AND ALLERGY: Antihistamine and decongestant.
DIOVAN: Anti-hypertensive (blood pressure medicine). It works by interrupting Angiotensin II that activates the minuscule muscles, which surround arteries ... once a day.
DIPENICILLIN: Penicillin G benzathine.
DIPENTUM: Medication, which has chemicals related to salazine and dampens the effects of ulcerative colitis.
DIPHENHYDRAMINE: Antihistamine, anti Parkinsonism, relief of motion sickness.
DIPHENOXYLATE: Counteracts wavelike contractions of smooth muscles like the intestines which keep food moving through the digestive system...
DIPROLENE: Topical ointment, lotion, gel ... corticosteroid.
DIPROLENE AF: Topical ointment, lotion, gel ... corticosteroid.
DISALCID: For osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis ... 500-750 mg.
DITROPAN: Symptomatic relief for an overactive bladder (urinary urgency, frequency, leakage, urge, and dysuria). Generic name is "oxybutynin chloride".
DIURIL: Edema, hypertension. Used to control blood pressure by removing sodium and water from the body.
DIVALPROEX SODIUM: Anticonvulsant ... also called Depakote.
DOBUTAMINE: Cardiac stimulant. Used for refractory congestive heart failure or hypotensive patients where vasodilators cannot be used because of effects on blood pressure. Same as Dobutrex. This drug is typically used for people who are unable to perform a stress test because they are unable to run on a treadmill. The test uses sound-wave pictures to view the fast beating heart (just as in a stress test) and identify if there are any obstructions impeding blood flow.

DOCUSATE CALCIUM: Stool softener.

DOFETILIDE: Also called ... "Tikosyn. Class III antiarrhythmic.
DOLOBID: Used for arthritis and pain.
DOMEBORO: Soothing, wet dressing for inflamed skin.
DONNATAL: Used as an adjunct for duodenal ulcers and irritable bowel syndrome.
DOPAMINE: Used to support cardiac output, blood pressure and renal perfusion in shock states.
DOCUSATE: This medication is used for the short?term treatment of constipation.
DONNATAL: Adjunct in irritable bowel syndrome; duodenal ulcer.
DORYX: Antibiotic ... 100 milligram.
DOSTINEX: Hyperprolactinemic disorders.
DOVONEX: Topical agent for psoriasis - a cousin of Vitamin D.
DOXEPIN: Anti-depressant.
DOXAZOSIN: An alpha-blocker that lowers blood pressure by making arteries more open and relaxed. (Manufacturer is Pfizer Inc. Sold under the brand name Cardura).
DOXEPIN: For anxiety and depression ... 10 mg, 25 mg, 50 mg, 75 mg, 100 mg and 150 mg.
DOXYCYCLINE: Tetracycline-susceptible infections including respiratory, genitourinary, acne.
DRIXORAL: Decongestant, antihistamine.
DROPERIDOL: Anesthetic; antipsychotic.
DRYSOL: Twenty- percent aluminum chloride solution effective for underarm sweating.
DS: Abbreviation for "double strength".
DULCOLAX: Laxative.
DUODERM: Properly spelled ... DuoDerm. A water retention dressing which encourages healing of stasis ulcers.
DUOFILM LIQUID WART REMOVER: Properly spelled ... DuoFilm. May remove warts due to its salicylic acid content. Apply topically.
DURACID: Antacid.
DURACT: Respiratory; pleurisy.
DURAGESIC: Pain, chronic.
DURASPHERE: Injectable gel for female stress incontinence.
DURATUSS: Used as an expectorant to help clear mucous and congestion. 600-120 mg tablets.
DURICEF: For urinary tract infections, skin infections, pharyngitis. It is an antibiotic (cephalosporin-type).
DXM: Dextromethorphan ... an ingredient in cough suppressants that is now available in pure powder form. It is a psychoactive drug commonly mixed with speed and called "ecstasy" (a different hallucinogenic known as "E").
DYAZIDE: For edema; hypertension; diuretic. Dyazide capsules are a combination of triamterene and hydrochlorothiazide at 37.5 and 25 mg respectively.
DYNABAC: Used for infections (mild to moderate) ... bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, community acquired pneumonia, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, skin infections (uncomplicated). Typical dosage for an adult is 500 milligrams a day.
DYNACIN: Antibiotic.
DYNACIRC: Properly spelled ... DynaCirc. Used for hypertension.
