ORGANIC SODIUM DEFICIENCIES
Like potassium , organic sodium is an electrolyte needed for the utilization of oxygen.
Sodium is essential to human health, organic sodium and not the scoundrel of health sodium
chloride a.k.a. salt. Salt and sodium are not synonymous as far as our health is
concerned.
Digestive and joint troubles can be related to sodium intake - is the sufferer taking in enough
organic sodium? Or is (s)he consuming too much inorganic sodium (e.g., table salt)?
Chronic indigestion, intestinal irritation, constipation, ulcers and other stomach disorders as
well as joint troubles such as arthritis, rheumatism and osteoporosis are often signs that
the bio-organic sodium is deficient in the body. Reserve supplies of sodium are stored in
joints, ligaments, and lymph fluid, but chiefly in the walls of the stomach and small
bowel. This makes the tissues of the stomach highly alkaline, which is needed to
withstand the hydrochloric acid normally produced in the stomach. If it were not
for the presence of sodium, the stomach walls would be destroyed by the acid in
these tissues.
When organic sodium levels become low our body will use stored supplies in the liver, joints,
bile, and stomach. As sodium is taken from the mucosal lining of the stomach there is a
proportional loss in the stomach's ability to produce hydrochloric acid (stomach acid.)
