UPDATE:
It has been almost 2-years since I started the 2-day on & 1-day off fasting cycle. I began this
"way of life" because of the mice experiments that I read about, conducted in the early part of the 20th
century, that showed life could be extended by 30% to 50%.
Also, the general lack of interest in the medical and scientific communities concerning "fasting"
made me want to investigate these
methods because they have the potential to provide enormous benefits for mankind.
So far, I have discovered that fasting is primarily about eliminating toxins from the body ... it
is a time honored method of purifying the body and spirit. A "fast" limits foods to teas,
broths and juices.
There are thousands of reported benefits attributed to "fasting" ... the following are
the most important ones I have discovered.

FASTING AND JUICING
I endeavor to drink two glasses of freshly made fruit or vegetable juices on each of my fast days.
When the body has not consumed solid foods for awhile, it agressively attacks anything you
give it ... give it pure, freshly made fruit and vegetable juices to purify the body as it is
eliminating toxins.
FASTING AND BROTH
After researching cancer information for a friend, I learned that virtually all chronic diseases
can be traced back to a continuous, acid body state. I incorporated this into my thinking and
started using an "alkalyzing broth" on fast days. It makes sense to me that an acid
neutralizer
would be beneficial on "fast" days to couteract the increased elimination of toxins
(acids) that occurs.
MY TYPICAL "FASTING DIET"
I designed this "fast" thinking that the first step to solving the problem of aging is to
understand it from various viewpoints ... because developing a
multi-level treatment plan will improve odds for success.
- Eat a normal diet for two consecutive days and
then -
"fast"
for one ... continue this cycle for the rest of your life!
- Limit stress and anxiety daily by invoking the
"relaxation response"
for 20 minutes.
- Introduce
anti-oxidants
into the diet
- Perform moderate, aerobic exercise daily
- Drink freshly made fruit & vegetable juices on fast days
- Drink freshly made "alkalyzing broth" on fast days
HEALTH
I have been healthy over the past two years with the exception of a cold
I got when I went to Chicago for Christmas of 2004.
WEIGHT
When I started the fast I noticed that I had a decrease of weight ... but ultimately my
weight stabilized and went back to my traditional weight ... i.e., I have been approx 168 pounds
for the past 30-years.
